The Hispanic Women’s Network of Texas (HWNT) developed an Education and a Scholarship Program to assist Latinas attain higher education.

HWNT provides Education Programs through the Chapters for Latina high school students.  These Latinas will be provided scholarship opportunities and there are no fees associated with this program.

Requirements for Chapter Education Programs for all Latinas are to include the following components:

  1. College Preparation
  2. Hispanic History, Leadership, Culture, Politics, and Civism
  3. Writing Skills
  4. Assertiveness Training
  5. Life Skills (Health Awareness & Self-Improvement)

A model was adopted in 2008 by the HWNT state (Latinas In Progress©) for Latina students that should be used by each chapter that includes all these components.

Members also mentor college students and women returning to continue their education.

Each Chapter must provide statistics on their students.  Deadlines and measurement tools are provided by the state.
