Through the Latinas in Progress™ (LIP) Education Series, the Hispanic Women’s Network of Texas San Antonio Chapter (HWNT-SA) aims to empower collegegoing Latinas throughout their academic journey and equip them with the means to succeed in their personal and professional lives. Students in undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral level programs qualify to participate.
The LIP Education Series presents topics around learning more about applying to college, interpersonal and leadership skills, importance of civic engagement, healthy living and important life skills, and a focus on writing a personal statement for college and scholarship applications. The 2019 LIP Education Series were hosted in partnership with Café College. LIP also introduces the participants to networking opportunities with the members of HWNT-SA who share their stories of overcoming adversity, achieving higher education, and their professional success.
After completing the sessions, LIP participants become eligible to apply for an HWNT-SA scholarship. HWNT-SA’S REBOZO BRUNCH is the chapter’s only fundraiser that raises scholarship funds to award students.
