My BIGGEST and most sincere thanks to the organizers of, and volunteers for, the annual conference held this past August in Houston. In my profession I attend many conferences but this was my first time to attend the HWNT conference. I had such a wonderful and inspiring experience! Every aspect of the meeting was first class. Not to mention the fact that I met so many totally fabulous, fun and accomplished Latinas.

It was a pleasure seeing past friends and meeting new latinas at the Houston conference. We truly appreciate the invitation and opportunity to share some insight on what the Corpus Christi chapter is doing to make an impact in our communities: homes, public, corporate and civic lives. The question and answer period following our presentation reassured us that there is an interest out there to put some of these practices in place in other chapters. If we can be of service, please do not hesitate to contact us. Great job to our new Houston chapter and equally to our newest chapter in Laredo. I just want to say that I have been a member of HWNT since 1990 and I am still enjoying meeting fabulous Latinas. I attended the conference in Houston, last week and what a time! We had great speakers, great sessions, and most of all great friendships. It is so nice to get to see all of my comadres from the other chapters. This is a great time to catch up with one another and to meet new members from those chapters. If you are looking to connect with Latinas in your area, I encourage you to join us and become a member and GET INVOLVED! You can only get back what you put into the organization. Many of my HWNT friends are ladies I met in 1990 and since. There are many organizations out there, with Latina members, but no other one is as focused on Latinas, young and 'older', to help direct them and help them grow. Whether we are providing education seminars to high school girls, to stress the importance of higher education or providing developmental workshops for our members, to help us grow and succeed or just getting together to join cultural events in our community, we are touching lives. We are a 'network' of women helping women and we need more Latinas to reach out into the community and help out. Come join us.

I HAVE BEEN ANXIOUSLY LOOKING FOR A GROUP SUCH AS YOURS! HURRAH! I am an elementary teacher here at Cabell Elementary School in Dallas/Farmers Branch and I'm looking for some positive role models for my young ladies. Specifically, those of your membership who are science-related fields, (I am the fifth grade Science teacher here.) Is there someone, preferably with a health-care related background who could give some attention to one of my very special, ( and much beloved by her teacher), students? I also want to establish a relationship with women who want to make a positive influence on these young Latino girls. Why wait till high school? They need help NOW!
