Fitness Corner
By Delisa Garcia, BA, BS, CI-CPT

HWNT San Antonio Fitness Chair

I'm always intrigued by women who have made fitness
transformations. Specifically, I love to find out what their
turning point was...what made them make a change. Also, I
wonder where they came from in their own words. So often,
it's easy to identify with some part each story.
Angela Sweet will be featured in Oxygen Magazine (www.oxygenmag.com)
in February 2010's issue. She says she used to tell herself,
"a treat here and there won't matter" and "skipping this
workout won't make a big difference." Then, the truth hit.
She says, "I was controlled by excuses." Her turning point
was seeing a photo of herself. She also claims that her
biggest stumbling block was emotional eating. "I realized
that when I was stressed out with the kids or overly tired,
I'd reach for high-fat, high-salt, high-sugar foods. It took
some journaling to get past that." In fact, she now says,
"You won't catch me without my cooler. My days are busy and
long, so every morning I load up my cooler with clean eats
and off I go!"
What is holding you back? What would (or does) your life,
food, and exercise journal say about you? Read more about
Angela and about Margaret Smith who went from a size 16 to a
six at the age of 50 by going to
www.oxygenmag.com.
