HWNT FALL MEMBERSHIP DRIVE

A letter from the State Executive Board

Dear HWNT Members,

It's that time of the year for the Hispanic Women's Network of Texas to begin our Annual Membership Drive for 2009.
First, we want to thank you for your continued support along with your commitment of time, talent and treasures. It is folks like you who make HWNT a strong organization by helping us "promote the advancement of women in public, corporate and civic life".
As we bring 2008 to a close, we want to welcome back to HWNT our chapter in Laredo and the newly formed chapters in Houston and Denton. Other cities have expressed interest in establishing their own HWNT chapters in other areas of Texas like Odessa/Midland, El Paso, Kingsville and Brownsville.
Local chapters are hosting membership mixers and other events to kick-off their fall membership drives which officially began in October and will continue until December 2008.
Again, thank you for what you do for HWNT. We look forward to having you make HWNT shine in 2009!

Abrazos,

Carmen Garcia                                                    Susie Olmos-Soto

STAND AND BE COUNTED00

HWNT chapters will support the 2010 U.S. Census which will take place nationally starting April 1, 2010 and will count everyone living in the U.S. According to the U.S. Census, the confidential survey is required by law, is taken every 10 years and is crucial to how decisions are made in the government including the distribution of Congressional seats as well as the allocation of $300 billion in federal funds to communities each year.

Texas is part of the Dallas region which also includes Louisiana and Mississippi, the Gulf Coast area and the majority of the U.S.-Mexico border.

Help the Census by contributing your time, telling others of its importance and informing yourself about the process.

Poll workers are need, find job listings here.
