What does HWNT mean to me?

The organization means an extended family and support group for Latinas to promote and celebrate achievements, open paths for professional and personal development, and expand women's social and professional circle of influence. HWNT is welcoming, supportive, inviting, and a motivating agent in which women feel connected, bonded, appreciated, and validated in our heritage, contributions, worth, potential, and efforts.....Dr.Tanginika Cuascud Vega, member since 2006

A fabulous sisterhood of compassionate & inspiring women...Mary Lou Martinez

Being a member of the Hispanic Women’s Network of Texas provides sisterhood, mentorship and most importantly friendship. After attending a meeting with a friend, I felt empowered by the energy and passion of the membership especially towards education. I felt a strong urge to offer my support after meeting the young Latinas HWNT mentored. And, I was looking to fill a void after my mother had passed. Soon after, I realized the benefits of my commitment. HWNT has become my support group and resource for all of my personal and community endeavors. It has opened doors, extended networks, and provided leadership opportunities. Through HWNT I can impact my world by supporting the arts, education, health, and public policy. Most importantly, I have built lifelong friendships......Christina Elbitar, member since 2003

HWNT means a host of opportunities to learn new things and meet exceptional women.  HWNT empowers women to be successful in the public, corporate and civic life...Eva Bonilla

HWNT is an organization where you find support, friendship, leadership, and guidance. It allows you to grow as a person, and teaches you to seize the opportunities you are given. But it is also a place where you form a strong bonds with your madrinas, because you know they will always be there for you. Because of HWNT and my lovely madrinas, I have become a confident, independent and assertive Latina!...Daisy Castro, member since 2010, past LIP student and Intern

HWNT is an organization that provides solutions for the following:
1.  Professional development outside corporate America provided courses
2.  Extension of my professional and personal network
3.  An avenue to give back in an area that is my passion… the development of women
4.  Hispanic women role models
HWNT is a one stop shop for me...Pat Alva-Green, member since 2008

A few words listed and intertwined together sum up what HWNT means to me: friendship, networking, support, sisterhood (for those that don't have a "real" sister), community, mentoring, and opportunities for all of the above and more...Jennifer Trevino, member since 2004

HWNT means a close -knit community, strong community leaders, and talented resourceful women.   Most importantly it means having a group of friends with the common goal of empowering other Latinas and leading young Latinas to a successful future.  Without this organization, I may not otherwise have had the chance to work with and get to know these ladies, as I have over the past six years.  I initially joined the organization as a way to give back to my community.  When I learned that the primary goal for HWNT was to raise money to fund college scholarships for young area Latinas I knew that I found what I was looking for.  Over time, I have gained so much more in the process.  I have gained new friends and I have a respect for their talents, all that they do in their daily lives, and what they do for the organization.  These ladies have taught me to extend more of myself and to see the perspective of others.  I have learned from older and younger generations in the group and I feel that has made me a more, well rounded individual.  I promote the organization to anyone that is willing to support our programs and that will add value to the network that we have in place.  I am very proud to be a member of HWNT and I hope the connections, support and contributions I have made will benefit others and will last a lifetime...Judy Perez, member since 2004
