Congratulations on successfully completing the HWNT Latinas in Progress (LIP) Education Series! Now, it's time to celebrate. Please join us at 10:30 am on Saturday, March 24th for one of our most beloved events of the year- the LIP Mother-Daughter Scholarship Banquet! This is a lovely morning where we celebrate your accomplishments. At the last LIP session your class chose Domestic Violence Awareness as the cause we would promote so our color theme is Purple! You are not required but we do encourage you to wear purple that morning to show your support. A few thing to remember: 1. All 2012 LIP Students are invited to attend! Even if you did not submit a scholarship application, please join us to celebrate your program completion with your classmates. 2. Each student is allowed to bring one guest. We encourage you to bring your mother but fathers, sisters, brothers, or legal guardians are more than welcome to be your guest. We wish we could host entire families but unfortunately, space is limited. We're very proud of you and are excited to see you for this lovely occasion.
HWNT Scholarships
Do you have someone on your shopping list that is hard to buy the "perfect" gift? Consider establishing a scholarship fund in honor of that special someone to be awarded to one of our deserving Latinas in Progress students from the Class of 2012. You can also make a donation to the general Latinas in Progress scholarship fund, or even to our general operating fund. Plus the HWNT-FW Chapter will match your donation dollar for dollar up to $500 turning a $250 donation into $500 scholarship award or a $500 donation into $1,000 scholarship award. (All donations are tax deductible too if you're looking for a tax write off.)
I hope you will considering making a donation. For the last three years, I have honored my mother. Last year, I honored both my mother and daughter and will do the same this year. Please join us in this wonderful journey in ensuring that young women have the opportunity to obtain a higher education degree. Please complete this application and return by March 9, 2012. You may also want to check if your organization will match your donation (tax deductible). If you have any questions, you may contact me at your convenience.

Being a member of the Hispanic Women’s Network of Texas provides sisterhood, mentorship and most importantly friendship. After attending a meeting with a friend, I felt empowered by the energy and passion of the membership especially towards education. I felt a strong urge to offer my support after meeting the young Latinas HWNT mentored. And, I was looking to fill a void after my mother had passed. Soon after, I realized the benefits of my commitment. HWNT has become my support group and resource for all of my personal and community endeavors. It has opened doors, extended networks, and provided leadership opportunities. Through HWNT I can impact my world by supporting the arts, education, health, and public policy. Most importantly, I have built lifelong friendships......Christina Elbitar, member since 2003
HWNT means a host of opportunities to learn new things and meet exceptional women. HWNT empowers women to be successful in the public, corporate and civic life...Eva Bonilla
HWNT is an organization where you find support, friendship, leadership, and guidance. It allows you to grow as a person, and teaches you to seize the opportunities you are given. But it is also a place where you form a strong bonds with your madrinas, because you know they will always be there for you. Because of HWNT and my lovely madrinas, I have become a confident, independent and assertive Latina!...Daisy Castro, member since 2010, past LIP student and Intern
HWNT is an organization that provides solutions for the following: 1. Professional development outside corporate America provided courses 2. Extension of my professional and personal network 3. An avenue to give back in an area that is my passion… the development of women 4. Hispanic women role models HWNT is a one stop shop for me...Pat Alva-Green, member since 2008
A few words listed and intertwined together sum up what HWNT means to me: friendship, networking, support, sisterhood (for those that don't have a "real" sister), community, mentoring, and opportunities for all of the above and more...Jennifer Trevino, member since 2004
HWNT means a close -knit community, strong community leaders, and talented resourceful women. Most importantly it means having a group of friends with the common goal of empowering other Latinas and leading young Latinas to a successful future. Without this organization, I may not otherwise have had the chance to work with and get to know these ladies, as I have over the past six years. I initially joined the organization as a way to give back to my community. When I learned that the primary goal for HWNT was to raise money to fund college scholarships for young area Latinas I knew that I found what I was looking for. Over time, I have gained so much more in the process. I have gained new friends and I have a respect for their talents, all that they do in their daily lives, and what they do for the organization. These ladies have taught me to extend more of myself and to see the perspective of others. I have learned from older and younger generations in the group and I feel that has made me a more, well rounded individual. I promote the organization to anyone that is willing to support our programs and that will add value to the network that we have in place. I am very proud to be a member of HWNT and I hope the connections, support and contributions I have made will benefit others and will last a lifetime...Judy Perez, member since 2004
