According to the Texas Council on Family Violence:

111 women killed by their intimate partner in one year

74% of all Hispanic Texans indicate that either they, a family member and/or a friend have experienced some form of domestic violence, indicating that approximately 5.2 million Hispanic Texans are personally affected by the epidemic of domestic violence.

If the current prevalence rates remain the same, by the year 2030, more than 12.2 million Hispanic Texans could be personally affected by domestic violence.

ABOUT OUR PROGRAM

The Women In Need (W.I.N.) Initiative was launched April 1, 2009.

In partnership with women's shelters, HWNT Dallas members help women in distress. Our first partnership was with Genesis Women's Shelter. In October 2010, we began a partnership with The Family Place.

HWNT Dallas members host a  series of workshops in Spanish to Hispanic clients in the shelter, covering a variety of personal and professional development topics. Topics are based on our own personal and professional expertise. Workshops are conducted the last Wednesdays of each month.
