Chair's Message

We invite you to participate in our 22nd state annual conference in Houston, August 15–16, 2008. This year’s theme, “Challenges…Choices…Connections: Issues Facing Latinas Today” will generate interest as we cover topics that address the challenges, the choices that we have, and the advantages of making connections on issues facing Latinas across
the state. We are very excited about this year’s conference being held
in a city where we just launched a new chapter last fall. We anticipate another successful state conference and we certainly hope that you will consider supporting our efforts.

We have two outstanding individuals that will serve as our conference honorary chairs, Gracie Saenz, former Houston City Councilwoman and Arcilia Carrasco-Acosta, Chair of Texas Association of Mexican-American Chambers of
Commerce (TAMACC). Visit the conference webpage and learn more about these outstanding Latinas. Please take advantage of the Early Bird Registration which is available until July 15.
If you are not a member, please join so that you can take advantage of the discount.

Our organization continues to grow and we are happy to announce that we have added Laredo as new chapter this year which brings us to chapters in 8 cities – Austin, Corpus Christi, Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, Laredo, McAllen and San Antonio! HWNT is generating more interest across the state and El Paso and Lubbock are considering joining us later this year.

See you in Houston!

Carmen Garcia, HWNT State Chair
